HUG by LAUGH® is a sensory device designed to bring pleasure and comfort to people living with dementia. HUG by LAUGH® is designed to be cuddled and has a beating heart within its soft body. HUG by LAUGH® can play music that can be easily changed to a favourite playlist.
We have recently secured Welsh Government SMART Expertise funding to evaluate the health and wellbeing benefits of HUG by LAUGH®. This is being done in collaboration with the NHS, Sunrise Senior Living and Stroke Hub Wales.

The LAUGH (Ludic Artefacts Using Gesture and Haptics) research project has developed a series of innovative playful devices that amuse, distract, comfort engage, bring joy, and promote ‘in the moment’ living for people with late stage dementia.
Co-design for dementia with Men’s Shed charity This project builds on the relationship between LAUGH and Squirrel’s Nest Men’s Shed in Tondu. Men’s Shed is an organisation that supports the mental health of men in the community through making and craft practice.
